Tommy Safian

Tommy Safian launched Opportunity Justice to help amplify the power of entrepreneurship in the economic, criminal and social justice arena for non-profit, for-profit and governmental organizations. An innovator in criminal and economic reform, Tommy has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fast Company, Inc.,  Huffington Post, Upworthy, Free Enterprise and other major media. Tommy co-founded the influential non-profit Refoundry, a unique blend of post-incarceration training, environmental sustainability, and start-up enterprise. He’s partnered with entities from the ReEntry Acceleration Program (REAP) at Columbia University’s Tamer Center for Social Enterprise to Shake Shack, The Moth, the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the NYC Department of Corrections.

Tommy’s been a featured speaker at the Social Innovation Summit, the Wagner School for Public Service at NYU, Virginia University’s Darden School of Business, Opportunity Collaborative, the Brooklyn DA’s Task Force for Reentry and elsewhere. A serial entrepreneur whose work has spanned businesses in design, manufacturing, and retail, Tommy holds a Masters in Critical Theory from the University of Michigan.
